Evaluation of the BSP Model

The paper presents the results of a theoretical and practical evaluation of the Bulk Synchronous Parallel model, as implemented by the Oxford BSP Library. BSP claims to provide a scalable, portable and predictable framework for developing parallel software, with a reliable and straightforward analytic cost model. This work addresses these claims, and tries to establish their validity in context of practical advantages offered to a software designed and implementer. The University of Birmingham
